On the internet, money has been stripped of its “taboo” status in recent years, and it’s something people are openly chatting about more and more. Although I do not consider myself an educated queen on this topic, I am trying to slowly learn more since this isn’t something I learned in high school or college!
A GUIDE TO HAVING A VERY FUNCTIONAL AND NOT TOTALLY DEPRESSING DESK
For the past three-ish months, I’ve been working from a tiny desk that’s a mere 36 inches from a much cushier couch, 111 inches from the fridge, and smack dab in the middle of my girlfriend’s favorite meandering route through our apartment.
Despite a lengthy track record of avoiding desks of all varieties, I’ve been clinging to this hunk of wood like it’s the door from Titanic, trying to summon a smidge of stability amid the choppy waters of the pandemic.
I’m still not sure I’ve entirely succeeded at “being a person who actually works at a desk productively,” but I’ve definitely improved a lot. Here are some pointers!
HOW TO… WORK FROM YOUR CHILDHOOD HOME THIS SUMMER
Although some aspects of our “normal lives” are opening back up, many of us are still located in our homes for Summer 2020:COVID-19 Edition. For me, that means I am back in my childhood home (AKA, my childhood bedroom where I thought I was talented enough for art school).
I wasn’t and still… am not.
I was expecting this summer to be commuting into the city, doing an internship, and spending the majority of my week days sitting in traffic and working in an office environment. Instead, I’m signing on from my bedroom, the kitchen, our recliner by the window, and in any other corner of our house I can be productive in.
